Managing Myelodysplastic Syndromes
Currently, the primary approach to managing myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)
is supportive care. Health care professionals provide supportive care by,
for example, monitoring MDS symptoms and managing them with transfusions, antibiotics
and other therapies.1,2
In addition to receiving supportive care, it is important that people with
MDS maintain or improve their physical and emotional wellness to better manage
their disease. People with MDS are encouraged to seek wellness counseling and
emotional support to help them cope with the challenges of their illness.2
